On September 4th 2009, at 6:45 PM Investigators with the Glynn County Police Department sought and received arrest warrants for Guy Heinze Jr., age 22 in connection with the murders and criminal attempt to commit murder that occurred at lot 147, New Hope Mobile Home Park in Glynn County, in the early morning hours of August 29th.

He has now been charged with 8 counts of first degree murder in the deaths of eight people, including seven family members. 3-year-old Byron Jimmerson, Chrissy Toler's son, survived the attack. He is still recovering at a Savannah hospital.
"We did not suspect him all along. It's the most heinous crime in our community, I think we all know that" said Glynn County Police Department, Chief Matt Doering. "I can assure you that this person is responsible, and that's the best information I can give you." said the chief. "I know the community wants answers, but I'm not prepared to give much more than that," he added.

Police Chief Matt Doerring

Police Chief Matt Doerring, at a news conference Friday night, said a judge revoked Heinze’s bond after police consulted with him on new evidence. He said law enforcement received two pieces of information Friday that led them to re-arrest Heinze, Jr. but he cannot comment on any specific information or evidence that led to the arrest.  Doering also will not reveal the official causes of death.

A news release on the Glynn County Police web site indicates the arrest was made both on physical and, what they term testimonial evidence.  Doerring says he must protect the integrity of the investigation and that the probe is very much ongoing.

Glynn County Coroner Jimmy Darden said that police found the murder victims in beds and on the floor of the home. He said the victims had been there overnight Friday before Guy Heinze, Jr. made the 911 call on Saturday morning.

High Teens Crash into Police Car

Cameron Marchiori, 17, and Nicholas Evanoff, 18, are in a lot of trouble. The two teens from Fraser, Mi. face felony charges of theft, alcohol possession, resisting arrest and destruction of police property after crashing into a police cruiser with a lawnmower.

See video clip below:

According to the Fraser police, an officer was investigating a number of 911 calls from concerned citizens about two teens on a lawnmower. He ran into them, or rather they ran into him, near the intersection of 15 Mile and Utica roads.

Cameron Marchiori, 17, who was high after inhaling from aerosol cans he and his friend, Nicholas Evanoff, 18, had bought at the local Meijer, was driving a stolen lawnmower. He was so intent on controlling the lawnmower that he did not notice the police car until it was too late to stop. The collision between the lawnmower and police cruiser was caught on the police car dashcam video.

Nicholas Evanoff attempted to run after the accident occured but was quickly caught. Both teens were charged with receiving and concealing stolen property and possession of alcohol. Marchiori also was charged with malicious destruction of property. Evanoff was charged with resisting and obstructing police. Both were arraigned in 39B District Court in Fraser. Marchiori was ordered held on 10% of a $10,000 bond. Evanoff was ordered held on 10% of a $5,000 bond, said Lt. Dan Kolke of the Fraser Police Department.

Gates Arrested in His Own Home

Henry Louis Gates 2Henry Louis Gates 4Henry Louis Gates 3

Henry Louis "Skip" Gates, Jr. (born September 16, 1950) is an American literary critic, educator, scholar, writer, editor, and public intellectual. Gates currently serves as the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University, where he is Director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research.

The above was taken from his Wikipedia biography. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is also Black. Whether this fact played a role in his arrest at his own home or not is as matter of conjecture. Below is one account of what happened when police were summoned to his house, because a neighbor, identified as Lucia Whalen, thought that two Black men were trying to break in. See Video here

The President, Barack Obama, was asked at a news conference what he thought of the incidence. Obama called Gates a friend, and said he doesn't know all the facts of the case but he said:

"Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof he was in own home," Obama said.

See Video Here

"What I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately," Obama said. "That's just a fact."

The police sergeant accused of racism after he arrested Gates insisted that he won't apologize. Police say Gates at first refused to display ID and then accused the officer of racism. Sgt. James Crowley said he followed proper procedures in arresting Gates.

Crowley said he was disappointed by the national debate triggered by the incident and insisted he followed proper procedures in arresting Gates last week in Cambridge on a charge of disorderly conduct.

"I'm outraged," Gates said in extensive comments made to TheRoot.com, a Web site he oversees.

"I can't believe that an individual policeman on the Cambridge police force would treat any African-American male this way, and I am astonished that this happened to me; and more importantly I'm astonished that it could happen to any citizen of the United States, no matter what their race.

There are 1 million black men in the prison system, and on Thursday I became one of them," he said. "I would sooner have believed the sky was going to fall from the heavens than I would have believed this could happen to me. It shouldn't have happened to me, and it shouldn't happen to anyone."

He spoke of a "terrifying and humiliating" experience at the Cambridge jail, where he was booked, fingerprinted, photographed and questioned, then locked up in a tiny cell that made him claustrophobic. He said he wants an apology from the officer, Sgt. James Crowley. He also said he planned to talk to his legal team about the next step.

Prosecutors dropped a disorderly conduct charge against Henry Louis Gates Jr. The city of Cambridge called the arrest "regrettable and unfortunate," and police and Gates agreed that dropping the charge was a just resolution.

The city of Cambridge, a Boston suburb, released a statement saying the situation "should not be viewed as one that demeans the character and reputation of professor Gates or the character of the Cambridge Police Department."

GendarmesJail CellCastration

A 43-year-old French policeman from the town of Strasbourg in eastern France has committed suicide in jail. He was arrested after he chopped off the penis of his wife's lover. The father of five, who had been placed on a suicide watch, killed himself using a bed sheet and left a farewell letter, a prison spokesman said.

According to prosecutors, the policeman went over to his wife's lover's house in the nearby town of Reichshoffen, knocked his 54-year-old rival senseless, dragged him into his garage and castrated him using a box cutter. He then told neighbors to call an ambulance and surrendered himself to fellow officers.

Charged with "a barbarous act of torture and mutilation" the man had faced a maximum of 30 years in jail. An initial psychiatric report concluded that he acted in cold blood, and recommended that he be detained in a psychiatric facility. He reportedly told the psychiatrist that he wanted "to punish his rival."

Man Hires Prostitute for His Son

Prostitute SignProstitute Sign 2Prostitute Working

A 42-year-old man, a native of Poland, living in Britain, decided it was time for his 14-year-old virgin son to have sex. So he took him out to look for a prostitute. He was arrested during an undercover operation by the city's vice squad. His case was heard before Nottingham Crown Court Judge Jonathan Teare.

In court the man admitted trying to solicit a woman to have sex with a child.

According to Prosecutor Adrian Harris, the man drove his son around the red light district of Nottingham looking for a suitable candidate. They eventually found someone:
"The boy said that they had driven past the girl and his dad pointed to her and said 'will she do?"' Harris said. "He said 'yes' and they had turned round.

Little did they know at the time that they had picked out an undercover police officer named "Sarah". The man pulled up to "Sarah" and asked her how much it would cost for her to have sex with his son. They settled on a price of $30. That was when plainclothes police officers moved in and arrested him.

In court Judge Jonathan Teare was told the unidentified man who lives in Bulwell, Nottingham, had come to Britain 8 years ago with his son after his wife had died. He re-married but his second wife suffers from schizophrenia. The son told the court that his Dad was trying to "take care of  him" because he was still a virgin.

Judge Jonathan Teare said he would spare the father jail because of his excellent character and that he believed he did not mean any harm to his son.
"What you were doing that night was to expose your 14-year-old son to a prostitute because you didn't know she was a police officer.

"You have a duty of care to your son and that is to look after his moral welfare not, as you might think, to break him into the ways of sex through a prostitute."

The man's lawyer, Matthew Smith, said:
"There is a thorough sense of shame the defendant feels. "It's completely at odds with every other part of his character."

The judge gave the man a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for a year and placed him on the  sex offenders register for five years.
